What to Bring to the Beach :)

Hey people! Catylinn here with what I like to put in my beach bag :)


  1. Sunscreen! It is so important to protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays and prevent getting burnt and skin damage.
  2. Water! You need to drink a lot of water to stay hydrated, especially since you'll be there under the hot sun. 
  3. 2 Towels! I like to bring two just in case, because you never know what might happen.
  4. Change of Clothes! You may want to change out of your wet swim suit before heading home.
  5. Snacks! Such as apples, popcorn, chocolate, or whatever you want. 
  6. Money! You may want to grab a bite to eat or you might need a little extra change to feed the parking meter.
  7. Phone! For obvious reasons...
  8. Headphones! What's better than listening to music while tanning on the beach?
  9. Books! You may get bored... so you mine as well catch up on some reading.
  10. Hair brush! A day at the beach always messes up my hair :p
  11. A jacket! It can get cold at night! And you don't want to regret it.
  12. Toys! Whether a beach ball or frisbee! Something you can play around with.

Fun Facts on Love

Hey guys! Catylinn here with fun facts about love! I just wanted to say that I'm sorry that I've been MIA recently... I got sick and I have also been really busy so yeah.. Anyway here it goes!

Fun Facts!

  1. When a person's in love and they look at a person they love their eyes can expand as much as 45%.
  2. Cuddling triggers the same neurological reaction as taking painkillers.
  3. Falling in love has similar neurological effects as a cocaine high.
  4. It takes less than 4 minutes to decide whether you have feelings for someone.
  5. The more you  talk about that person to others; the more you fall in love with that person.
  6. Women who marry their best friend live happier and longer. A relationship built upon friendship can also combat depression.
  7. According to psychologist, if a crush lasts longer than 4 months you are "in love."
  8. It's impossible to remain angry at someone you truly love. Anger lasting for more than 3 days indicates that you're not in love. 
  9. When you have a crush on someone, your brain overlook and ignores the flaws of that person causing them to appear 'perfect.'
  10. Men fall in love faster than women.

How To Straighten Hair Without Heat

Hey darlings! Today I have a tip on a constantly asked question: how to straighten your hair without heat. It is very possible, but requires a lot more time then using heat. So, prepare yourself!

We all know that heat damages your hair over time. Using a  curling iron or straightening your hair with a straightening iron too often can pretty much fry your hair, leaving it more prone to split ends and  breaking. 


Here is one way you can dry your heat without heat, and still get it straight! 

☄ Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner. Use a "deep conditioner" or leave your regular conditioner in for two to three minutes.

☄ Towel dry your hair. Gently towel it dry so that it is not dripping, but still damp.

☄ Apply anti-frizz serum to your hair, especially if it is prone to curling up in cool air. It will keep it straighter will it dries as well. If you don't have frizz serum, just look up how to make your own. Most recipes are very simple!

☄ Blow dry your hair on the coolest setting possible. Use a flat paddle brush to brush your hair out in long, straight strokes. Do this until your hair is completely dry. Because it is on the cool setting, this could take up to an hour or more. 

☄ Style your hair as you wish, or simply leave it down. 


There are many other ways, but I don't want to make this tip too long.

Summer Series: What to Wear in Summer

Hello darlings! Today I bring you a post for Catylinn and I's 2k15 Summer Series! So everyone has a different style, but I hope that some of these ideas help spark your creativity as far as outfits go. So yeah I'll just recommend some stuff for really hot weather, etc. 

O1: White/Gray Short-sleeved Shirt
Oh, by the way, sorry for the inconsistent posting. Things were a little scattered this week. Okay so a gray/white short-sleeved shirt is perfect for summer because gray and white are very "cool" colors meaning they keep you cooler than black or darker colors. White especially reflects light. Also, gray is a good color if your going for the street style look with jeans and a light jacket. It's very casual, but can be dressed up.

O2:  Denim Shorts
Okay this picture is a little awkward because of the gigantic white outlining but whatevs. Denim shorts are a must during summer (unless you prefer not to show skin) because they keep you cool and they go with almost any shirt! Denim shorts come in a ton of different colors and lengths, so they're versatile and almost everyone can find a pair they like.

O3: Maxi Skirts
Maxi skirts are great because when they're soft they feel good against your legs, and the people that prefer to keep their legs covered can stay cool during the hot summers. They also just look really cute with crop tops and other things in general. Again, lots of colors = great versatility.

O4: Sunglasses
Sunglasses are useful when it comes to long days in the sun. They keep your eyes safe from UV-rays from the sun that can damage your eyes. Plus, when you get the perfect pair, they look totally marvelous. 


EXTRA TIP: Go with whatever you feel like wearing, but don't forget to consider the weather! Want to wear jeans when it's 104 degrees Fahrenheit outside? Might want to rethink that...

Psychology Facts!

First of all lets start with what psychology is...

Psychology: the scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behavior in a given context.


  1. If you announce your goals to other, you are less likely to make them happen because you lose motivation ( not quite sure why but this happens... but I've noticed this is true)
  2. There are more than 400 distinct phobias well recognized by psychologist
  3. Your favorite song is probably your favorite because you associate it with an emotional even in your life.
  4. The type of music you listen to affects the way you perceive the world. So listen to happy music ;)
  5. Phobias may be memories passed down through generations in DNA.
  6. People who prefer to stay up late tend to outperform, achieve, and accomplish more than people who go to bed early.
  7. Before sleeping, 90% of your mind begins to imagine the stuff you would like to happen.
  8. Being ignored causes the same chemical reaction in the brain as experiencing a physical injury.
  9. Listening to 5 to 10 songs a day can improve memory, strengthen immune system and reduce depression risk by 80%.
  10. Constantly dreaming about someone may indicate that they're actually missing and or thinking about you a lot. 
  11. People who speak two languages, may unconsciously change their personality when they switch languages. ( I wonder if this happens to me...)
  12. The happier you are, the less sleep you require to function in everyday life. Sadness increases the urge to sleep more.
  13. The very last person on your mind before you close your eyes at night is either the reason for your happiness or pain. 
  14. Your body is the weakest during 3-4am. This is the time most people die in their sleep :(
  15. Being sarcastic on a regular basis can add up to 3yrs to your life. Sarcasm is extremely healthy for the mind.
  16. Based on a psychological study, a crush only lasts for a maximum of 4 months. If it exceeds, you are already in love.

Things To Do At The Beach

Its Catylinn here!!! And today I am going to give you guys things to do at the beach so that you don't get bored :) Oh and sorry this is late...I've been busy with school stuff :(



Things you can do at the beach:

  • Swim! And actually go in the water... not just ankle deep.
  • Listen to music! Blasts your favorite songs from a wireless speaker. 
  • Play volleyball! Or join a random group of people... you never now what might happen ;)
  • Take cool pictures! Whether of the sunset or just yourself and a few friends, pictures help us remember the good times.
  • Do gymnastics! Or any other cool trick by the water and take pictures.
  • Talk to random people! People might surprise you. 
  • Build a sand castle! Or... a sandman!
  • Surf! Or try to at least...
  • Bonfires! Start a bonfire and roast marshmallows and make smores!!! Just make sure to stay safe!
  • Look for seashells! Its always cool to start a collection.
  • Send a message in a bottle! Who knows what will happen to it?
  • Watch the Sunset! Its really pretty and one of the best times to take pictures. 
  • Sun Bathe! Just make sure you don't get burnt :p

Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe!

Heyo peoples of the interweb! Catylinn here with a chocolate chip cookie recipe that have tried and love :)  

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups minus 2 tablespoons (8 1/2 ounces) cake flour
1 2/3 cups (8 1/2 ounces) bread flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt
2 1/2 sticks (1 1/4 cups) unsalted butter
1 1/4 cups (10 ounces) light brown sugar
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons (8 ounces) granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/4 pounds bittersweet chocolate disks or fèves, at least 60 percent cacao content (chocolate disks available from Jacques Torres or Valrhona fèves, oval-shaped chocolate pieces, are available at Whole Foods; I used Trader Joe's semi-sweet chocolate chips)
sea salt, for sprinkling over cookie dough prior to baking

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Sift flours, baking powder, baking soda, 1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt into a large bowl; set aside.
  2. Using a mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream butter and sugars together until very light, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla.
  5. Reduce speed to low, add dry ingredients and mix until just combined, 5 to 10 seconds (I did about 20 to 30 seconds).
  6. Drop chocolate pieces in and incorporate them without breaking them.
  7. Press plastic wrap against dough (or place dough in an airtight container) and refrigerate for 24 to 36 hours. Dough may be used in batches, and can be refrigerated for up to 72 hours (I baked mine just shy of two days later, at 44 hours)
  8. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350F degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a nonstick baking mat; set aside.
  9. Scoop six 3 1/2-ounce mounds of dough (the size of generous golf balls) onto baking sheet, making sure to turn horizontally any chocolate pieces that are poking up; it will make for a more attractive cookie.
  10. Sprinkle lightly with sea salt and bake until golden brown but still soft, 18 to 20 minutes. (I baked first batch of 6 cookies for 18 minutes, and baked second batch of 4 cookies for 16 1/2 minutes; I prefer the 16 1/2 minute cookies). Transfer baking mat or parchment paper to a wire rack for 10 minutes, then slip cookies onto another rack to cool a bit more. Repeat with remaining dough, or reserve dough, refrigerated, for baking remaining batches the next day. Eat warm, with a big napkin.

WHAT MUSCLES IT WORKS! 

Jumping Jacks
what it works: calves, hip abductors, hip adductors, core, shoulder abductors, and shoulder adductors.

High Knees
what it works: quadriceps, calves, and butt

Burpees
what it works: quadriceps, hamstrings, butt, lower back, hips flexors, core, chest muscles, and shoulder muscles (there are so many because this exercise has a lot of different things you have to do in it) 

Squats
what it works: erector spinae, butt, quadriceps, and hamstrings

Tips On How To Get Flexible

Hi people of the internet! Catylinn here with tips on getting flexible! With doing cheer this year I had to get my splits, and overall just be more flexible. Anyway cheer try outs are coming up soon, and I am here to help you guys with your flexibility!


  1. Warm up! Jog for a few minutes, do a small work out, or a few jumping jacks anything to warm you up and loosen your muscles. 
  2. Don't force yourself into any position or hold it for too long! This can cause you to pull a muscle which can be painful :( and can have the opposite affect.
  3. Hold positions for 10-30 seconds. 
  4. Be consistent! Try to stretch for at least 5-10 minutes everyday to keep up your flexibility.
  5. YouTube! Look up "stretching tips" or something like that for stretches that you might not know. 
  6. Get people to help you stretch! Have a friend or family member push you down in your straddle to get a better stretch or get someone to push you down in your splits to get that last 1/2 inch. Remember lightly!!!
  7. Don't bounce! Its just a recipe for disaster ;(
  8. Use objects around the house! Such as a wall or doorway!
  9. Wear stretchy or loose clothing! Its way harder to hold your splits in jeans than in leggings!
  10. Yoga! Yoga does not only help build your flexibility but it is also great for your mind.

How To: Collect Cute Craft Supplies

Hey darlings! It's Style here with the first how-to tip on this blog! Oh, and Catylinn and I worked out the schedule stuff so for this week I'll be doing the even days and she'll be doing the odd. 

I have a ton of colorful craft stuff. It keeps me busy during the summer, and if I ever need a little extra "something" for a model or a school project, I know just where to find it. Unfortunately, sometimes it's difficult to find craft supplies in the right colors, shapes, and prices. 

YOU WILL NEED:
☮ a lot of patience
☮ a free day
☮ money


WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
Craft supplies are everywhere. You just have to look for them!
It may take a while, but eventually you will build up your collection of interesting colorful craft things by following these steps...

☮ scour online stores. they tend to have a wider selection and many different colors. unique designers will also sell specialty supplies that you can't find in stores

☮ go to your favorite craft shops. if they haven't failed you before, they probably won't fail you now!

☮ ask friends, family, and storeowners about what other shops they recommend and try them out

☮ go to thrift stores for supplies (yes those exist). they will have a lot of different things, usually for a lot less money.

☮ if you have some craft things that haven't been opened, look at the bag and see where you got them. try going back to that store.

☮ buy things in different colors if possible, but don't waste all your money on one thing. you don't know when you'll next find something like that, but if you don't think you'll use it then don't buy a lot of that item.

Summer Series: How To Get A Bikini Body

Hai people! Catylinn here telling you guys how to get a bikini body! 

Step 1: Put a bikini on
Step 2: Have confidence :)


You guys are beautiful just the way you are and you don't need to change for anyone or anything! But if you still want to know how to become healthier, and thus help your body than keep reading :)


Exercise!
Even though most people don't like this... it is a very important step. You can't expect to magically lose weight by not changing your exercise regimen

You should try to do a little cardio and strength training everyday. It doesn't need to be super vigorous just try your best to make it a habit.

For cardio you could: bike with a friend, go swimming, go running, walking your dog
*try to do at least 30 minutes of cardio a day

Strength training:

Pushups, burpees, situps, jumping jacks, squat jumps, wall sits, plank, high knees, leg lifts, knee tuck jumps, and other stuff.

Ex. Workout:
10 pushups
20 sit ups
25 squats
20 lunges( per leg)
80 jumping jacks
60 sec. wall sit
repeat up to 3 times
( you can adjust if it is too hard or too easy for you)

Make easy lifestyle changes:
*Try walking to school or riding your bike instead of getting a ride to burn a few extra calories
*Walk up stairs instead of  taking the elevator
*Park your car far away so that you have to walk farther
*When you have friends over do something active rather than just sitting around

Diet!
First of all DO NOT starve yourself!!!!!! This has many many many many bad side affects! And overall its just really not good for your overall health. Starving yourself can lead to anorexia or bulimia. Not only that but it will slow down your metabolism which means that when you do eat it is more likely to cause you to gain weight :(

Try to eat 5 to 6 small meals a day: this will keep up your metabolism and you will be less likely to snack on junk food.

Try to cut out processed foods, junk foods, and most things you wouldn't let your dog eat ;p

*Remember that sugar is okay in moderation

Eat lots of fruit and vegetables! Remember the food pyramid you learned about in third grade? Try your best to also eat based off of that.

Drink lots of water through out the day to stay hydrated and to boost your metabolism! Drink a glass of water before every meal because we often mistake dehydration for being hungry.

* I will post healthy recipes that I have tried and love ;)


Other Stuff!

*it will take time for you to see change but once you do there no other type of satisfaction
*some days you will have off days but try to remind yourself of your end goal
*sugar/junk food/ desserts are okay!!! Just make sure they don't consume your diet!
*muscle ways more than fat! So don't necessarily try to lose weight, try to lose fat but gain muscle(which might mean gaining weight).

When In  A Bikini!

  1. Stand up straight! Good posture always help :)
  2. Don't be self conscious, just have a good time. 
  3. Show off your rockin' bod!

Tips for Clear Skin:)

Heyo People! Catylinn here to give you guys tips for getting clear skin!


  1. Do not leave make up on overnight! This clogs your pores leading to unwanted pimples :(
  2. Exercise! This helps to release toxins and maintain clear skin. Make sure to wash your face before and after you workout.
  3. Drink water! When your skin is dry your body produces more oil to compensate for the lack of water.
  4. Change your pillowcase every so often to get rid of oils and other stuff that accumulate.
  5. Do not pick at it! It will only make it worse by getting dirt and oils from your fingers/ nails which can make things a lot worse.
  6. Benzoyl peroxide products are only good for about 3 months, after that it become inactive.
  7. Exfoliate! Try to exfoliate at 2x a week to get rid of dead skin and other stuff. 
  8. Remember that you might have to change your skin routine as the seasons change. 
  9. Wash your face in the morning and night!
  10. Make sure to moisturize! If you don't your skin will start to produce more oil to make it less dry.
  11. Tea tree oil works; :) but make sure not to use too much otherwise it will  dry out your skin.
  12. Try to cut back on fried foods! Not only are they not healthy the grease in the food eventually negatively affects your skin. Same with sugar.
  13. Try a face mask once a week! One type of mask that really works is clay.( Do not overuse, it will dry out your skin)
  14. Limit how much dairy you eat! Dairy(especially non-organic) contains hormones that can throw off your hormone balances which can cause you to break out.
  15. Get and allergy test! If nothing works, than get an allergy test! Allergens can cause inflammation including breakouts. 
  16. Caffeine can trigger acne :(
  17. Make sure to wash your hair! Oils from your hair can transfer to your face, causing you to break out.
  18. Avoid products with fragrances! Fragrances can irritate skin, causing redness and allergic reactions.
  19. Vitamin E heals scars!
  20. If all else fails, go to see a dermatologist. They will help you find a more personalized approach.

Workout #O1

Hey guys, Style here!
Today I'm bringing to you a workout I thought of!


1O push-ups
2O tricep dips
1O sit-ups
5O squats

Push-ups
These will work your upper arm muscles and your core. 

Tricep dips
These work your triceps. You can do them by sitting in front of a chair or a sturdy object that won't fall over. Put your hands on the front of the chair with your back facing it and pull yourself up and down. If that explanation was confusing, YouTube has plenty of tutorials.

Sit-ups
These work your core muscles. Sit ups are when you come all the way up, crunches are when you only come halfway up. Keep your hands behind your ears and try to keep your back straight as you come up and down. If you are not strong enough to keep your hands behind your ears, try putting them at your sides or putting your feet under a chair to keep your feet down.

Squats
These tone your thighs, butt, and muscles right above the knee. Make sure not to over extend your knee! Keep your legs relatively wide apart but not too far apart. If you can't do fifty all at once, try doing five sets of ten or two sets of twenty-five.

NEWS;
✿ I finished most of the pages, so luckily for you guys, there are only a few pages that are still "under construction".

✿ On the side of the blog we finally came up with a new tipping schedule. I had a different one in mind but I decided it was too strenuous. I created this one for Catylinn and I and it seems to be going well so far. Check to the right to see it!

Hi darlings, it's Style! Today I'll be sharing with you twenty facts on friendship. Maybe some of them will even apply to a few of your own friends!


O1) If a friendship lasts longer than seven years, psychologists say it will last a lifetime.

O2) People with stronger friendships have the greater ability to communicate strictly through facial expressions.

O3) The average person has three to five best friends, but dislikes someone in their social group.

O4) Lack of close friends is as detrimental to your heath as smoking cigarettes.

O5) In a lifetime, most people go through 396 friends but only 36 last.

O6) Every seven years, you lose about half of your friends and replace them with new people.

Summer Series: Intro 2 Summer

SUMMER;
n. the warmest season of the year, in the northern hemisphere from June to August and in the southern hemisphere from December to February

ALSO KNOWN AS;
the time for fun, beaches, friends, and no bothersome homework!


SHOULD YOU GO TO SUMMER CAMP?
- yes? no? maybe? it really depends. If the only thing holding you back is fear, then you should go and conquer that fear. You will probably have fun assuming its not a military type camp even then you might meet some really cool people.


HOW DO I KEEP IN TOUCH?
- Sometimes during summer people lose touch with some of their friends because they don't see them at school. Before school ends, make plans to see each other at least every week. If you're going to a school other than the school all your friends are going to, then plan a going away party. Even if you can't hang out, you can always text, call, IM, chat on a website (like Polyvore or Tumblr), or  even write an old fashioned letter! :)


HOW DO I PREVENT MYSELF FROM BEING BORED?
- There are so many things to do during summer because there is so much free time!  If there are things you have been wanting to do for a while but never had the time, make a to-do list and finish some of them. Take up a new class, become a camp counselor, teach yourself how to do a backflip, workout, or call up a friend and see if they're bored too.


HOW DO I STOP MYSELF FROM SNACKING EVEN WHEN I'M NOT HUNGRY?
- Did you know that a lot of the times when you want a snack or you think you're hungry, you really just want water? To fill yourself up and stop yourself from eating everything in sight, go outside and take a walk where there's no food, drink a glass of water, or drink water with Chia seeds (it's very filling).


HOW DO I MEET NEW PEOPLE?
Go the beach and talk to a random person, say hello to a neighbor you never talked to before, or ask one of your friends to introduce you to their friend! Get as many numbers as you can, and you'll have a ton more friends by the end of the summer! Yayy (:
